Laut

I had the pleasure of spending last weekend with some of my college buddies, and we literally traveled from union square to mid-town to Williamsburg and up-and-down again the next day, and then the day after that.

I had the best chicken rice I've had for a long time at Laut in union square. I shared this and the shrimp with basil sauce with my boyfriend. We shared roti (a Malaysian type of pancake) with the table and it was crispy and delicious. The last time I went, my friends and I started talking to an Indonesian waitress named Pinky who told us about her daughter and her life in Singapore. She was so sweet and remembered us the second time. I kinda wish I could go back sooner. You can't go wrong with friendly waitstaff and good food, right?

Another Bubble Tea Place

I really don't think you can beat the bubble tea options in Chinatown and Flushing, so I thought I would make a post on Ten Ren, a Taiwanese tea company that has 74 stores in Taiwan and 61 international stores. I've gone back twice for the peach green tea with boba. Honestly, I'll call it perfection. It is just the right amount of tea and syrup- extremely refreshing on one of those hot summer days in chinatown.
